Getting There

The best airports for flying into Big Sky are:

  • Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) – Located about an hour’s drive from Big Sky, this is the most convenient airport with frequent flights from major U.S. cities.

  • Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) – A great option if you plan to explore Grand Teton National Park before heading to Big Sky, though it’s about a four-hour drive.

For the best experience, I recommend renting a car at the airport so you can fully explore the region at your own pace.

Why Visit in Summer?

Summer is an ideal time to visit Big Sky because of the pleasant weather, long daylight hours, and access to a wide range of activities. With temperatures averaging in the 70s°F (20s°C), you can enjoy hiking, wildlife spotting, whitewater rafting, and more. Plus, Yellowstone National Park is at its prime, offering stunning landscapes and active geothermal features without the harsh winter conditions.

Where to Stay

For accommodations, I recommend two excellent options tailored to different budgets:

  • Luxury Stay: Montage Big Sky – This stunning five-star resort offers world-class amenities, a spa, fine dining, and breathtaking mountain views.

  • Budget-Friendly Stay: Shoshone Condos at Big Sky Resort – A great option for families or couples looking for a comfortable stay with access to resort amenities at a more affordable price.
